Project Summary

This project showcases my love for console video games that have been an integral part of my life. I had a colorful, challenging childhood and video games were something that I could use to cope with outside events that I could not control.  I have managed to acquire the consoles that I have played over my lifetime and still am on a quest to collect consoles that I have not yet had the chance to play. I love how a video game brings you back to the time of life when you first played the game. It connects the story of personal experience and what was happening in the world at the time. It is an excellent reflection at times, yet it can also feel more complex. This project has been an ongoing team effort with friends and family helping me look for games and consoles that I am still missing.

Project Analysis

 

This is also an ongoing project that requires much searching through swap meets, visiting video games exchanges, and the pure chance of finding a particular game or console that you need to complete the collection. I love to stop at random garage sales, and that is always a good place to find odd games that I am looking for. I find it best to put the word out to friends and family too because sometimes what I need people may have tucked away in their storage spaces. I believe that my ability to interact and “friend” people has been key to getting some sought-after units. I once was at a pub and overheard someone saying they just got a “Virtual Boy” from a yard sale. I said that I had been looking for one for years, and they said you could have it – I already have one. That is something that sounds too good to be true, but the universe sometimes works in your favor, and you just must be looking for the opportunity. The goal is to one day have a room in the brewery where I can set up stations for customers to enjoy these vintage gaming consoles and enjoy a beverage or two.
